On How Kamala Harris Lost 8-22-25
How bad does a candidate need to be to lose to Donald Trump? This pussy grabbing, convicted felon, and conflagrate liar, running against a former a former Attorney General and prosecutor, won. The DNC is scrambling to come up with the reasons, which to date are flimsy deflections. They need to get out and talk to regular Americans.
When I moved back to my home town after 15 years I was appalled at the surface racism, ignorance of economics and other issues. These are old friends, not stupid, not hateful people. So I listened. This is what I heard:
"WOKE" was a word that made me ask "do you want to be asleep and ignorant?". But what it really means is different and is well justified. Most of us out here are hard-working, responsible people. This is true for whites, blacks, Hispanics, men, and women and even immigrants. We work together, we play together and we show respect to each other. We also suffer together from the same problems that the DNC refuses to acknowledge. But the DNC and Harris focused the entire campaign on minority issues. This economy and system is rotten for all of us, not just for certain selected minorities. Frankly we are all sick of the pandering. The liberal media made this even worse. "DEI" also made me ask "do we really want less diversity, less equity and less inclusion?". But the real beef is that we are sick of minority quotas. Minorities are sick of minority quotas. Almost all of us want minorities to thrive and do better in this society but this is a long term problem that requires real solutions not finger pointing. All of my conservative friends who used the WOKE and DEI pejoratives work with, play with and laugh with minorities. Once again the liberal media made things worse.
After listening to my trumpy friends for three years one big thing stands out that gives Trump the advantage; a justified, deep hatred of politicians. He can spew stupid crap all day but it still sound less insidious than politicians on both sides.
So here are my 20 reasons why Harris lost:
1) We are sick of identity politics. Making promises to one group causes backlash from every other group. We are all subject to the same problems in this society. How Dems could not recognize this is beyond me.
2) Immigration IS a problem. We do not know who they are, where they are or what they are doing. Dems defended the status quo and whined about Trump's lies and racism. At least he proposed action. Business loves a cheap, easily abused workforce and Dems are just as culpable in this as the GOP.
3) The corporate dominance and monopolies issue was ignored by Dems. Bad or expensive internet? Bad or expensive cell service? No customer service? How is it easy to sign up but near impossible to cancel? How many scam phone calls do we have to put up with? How many times do our bank accounts get scammed? Where is our right to be "Secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects". Not a word from Harris about any of this.
4) The transgender issue was blown out of proportion by the media and Biden/Harris leaned right into it. This is a tiny segment of the population. As adult Americans we have the freedom to modify our bodies in any way we choose, but the suggestion that it's OK to drug and mutilate healthy prepubescent bodies is indefensible.
5) Abortion is not a settled issue. Casting people who appose abortion as sexist, misogynists who want to step on women's rights drove many voters away. Public financing of abortion offends many people on the left and the right.
6) Dems are just as much in the pocket of big money as the GOP. This is an issue that everyone in middle class America understands. Not a word from Harris about campaign finance reform, big money rules and we get screwed again.
7) Biden presenting "Woman of Courage" award to a MAN in our White House.
8) When homosexuals finally had the courage to come out and declare "I was born this way, I'm proud of who I am, so get used to it" most of America did. Not so with the trans issue. This is ultimately a failure of our culture. A male with female characteristics or a female with male characteristics faces ridicule, discrimination and violence that is wrong and un-American. So who stood up for them? Not liberals, the medical-industrial complex did, with a new billion dollar industry to drug and mutilate otherwise healthy bodies.
9) Trans people in the military would be fine except for one thing; our tax dollars paying for drugs, surgeries, and a lifetime of counseling. Sorry libs, it just doesn't wash for many Americans, left or right.
10) Trans people in sports. How could liberals get this so wrong? Kevin Durant at the end of his career would score 200 points a night in the WNBA if he came out as a "woman".
11) Americans have always loved movies like Tootsie, Birdcage, Some Like it Hot and also drag shows. But this is adult stuff that kids shouldn't be exposed to. Give kids a chance to grow up in a simple child's way without disturbing and confusing images. Once again, this issue irritates many people on the left and the right.
12) Women's equality. Equal opportunity yes, but we are not equal. Men and women are tuned differently and we need to admit it, and adjust to the differences. One simple observation; look around you, every building, road, vehicle and labor saving device was designed and built by men, and men pay the price in shorter lifespans. Many men do the kind of work that women do, very few women do the kind of work men do. Liberals piss men off about this issue and we can't openly vent without being accused of being sexist. This drove men away.
13) Yes, Harvey Weinstein is a disgusting turd who took advantage of his position of power to get sex from aspiring young actresses. We all know this, but what we never hear is that these women gained a career advantage over other women who had enough integrity to not spread their legs for him. Women lie, cheat and act in their own self-interest just as much and men. Dems were all about "Me Too" and "Believe the women". This drove men away.
14) Support for Netanyahu's genocidal land grab. Could anything be more wrong? Any objection was responded to with accusations of anti-antisemitism. Israel is a nation not a religion. 60,000 dead to date, 20,000 being children; Whole cities reduced to rubble, orchards that have existed for hundreds of years bombed out of existence. Is this not genocide? Dems are in the pocket of Israel.
15) Trump took full advantage of our worst fears. Racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia and fear of the unknown. His ridickless (sp) lies and promises to end wars should have been a winning strategy for Harris but was countered with a different set of BS and promises from Dem politicians. America chose the non-politician, pretty simple.
16) Our food, water and air are killing us NOW. Global warming is a long term problem and most Americans do not understand the science behind global warming, but we do understand the epidemic of obesity, asthma, heart and respiratory ailments, lead and PFAS in our water. Dems missed the point by emphasizing an issue that few understand.
17) Guys love cars. But it is near impossible to work on newer EVs and computer controlled cars. This is true for farm and other equipment as well. Dems simply do not understand us. EVs are the future but we don't want them crammed down our throats.
18) Lies and misinformation flourish in this new age of the internet, social media and AI. Otherwise smart people believe nonsense like cat boxes in schools, 5G as mind control, and wind power causing cancer. At the first sign of BS we turn off, not knowing what to believe anymore. And the Harris line had plenty of BS. Crowing about the success of Clinton/Obama/Biden policies and legislation did not ring true to many. These changes were made with good intentions but had devastating consequences. A good example of this is Obamacare. When demand is increased and supply is not, then prices will increase and access will decrease. Duh. Did Harris have the humility to admit this failure and suggest a plausible solution?
19) Carbon sequestration and other proposals from the oil and gas industry are simply scams and deflections that will lead to a more polluted world if followed. Dems talked about gas stoves polluting our homes, not a winning issue.
20) College loan forgiveness. The federal student loan system is an abomination. Few controls were put in place to guarantee that the funds would be applied successfully. I have personally witnessed these loans being diverted to vacations, tattoos and a failed attempt at building an off-grid "mud house". Many older people worked our asses off to pay for college and debt relief is offensive to us.
The short version: We ALL feel abused out here, gouged everywhere we turn, fed lies and misinformation, under surveillance and scammed everywhere we turn. The Dems response? Give-aways and the rights of every minority group in the country. What about the rest of us?
