Child Labor

Please return HOME if you can't tolerate foul language. But this one really, really pisses me off.

When I turned 11 my Dad taught me how to safely use a powered mower. From that time on, mowing the family yard was my job. I did not get paid for this (although I did get out of doing dishes, which is a job I hate to this day).

When I was 13 we moved to a property in a neighborhood with much bigger yards. My Dad then permitted me to mow yards for profit using the household mower. The minimum wage then was $1.00 per hour (about $10 per hour adjusted for inflation). These yards were about 1/2 acre and I got $5 per yard and $10 if I also did trimming. I made out like a bandit in the summers. In the winter, a buddy of mine and I shoveled driveways. We did well.

When my little sister was born soon after I was Jubilant. I learned to change diapers, feed babies and comfort them. My babysitting services were in demand, I did well. From that point on, if I wanted something I had to pay for it myself.

All of this taught me the importance of a good work ethic, money management and responsible employment.

But I was never at risk, and I was paid well. My parents and neighborhood parents guaranteed my safety. Similarly, children on farms had the oversight of their parents.

So why the fuck would these evil bastards suggest that we "Allow minors to work in hazardous jobs without parental consent".

Hey, it would boost the economy for these rich creeps to have just another easily abused, cheap workforce.
It's bad enough when adult illegals are taken advantage of, but these are our fucking children.
